Jonathan Demme's achievements are remarkable in their range and impact. He is one of only a handful of directors to have won the top prize at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs, and the Directors Guild of America for the same film. The Silence of the Lambs remains the only horror film to win Best Picture.
