Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas grew up in Wyckoff, New Jersey, U.S., where they honed their performance skills in local theater and church. Before the group's official formation, Nick Jonas had already embarked on a solo career, performing on Broadway in productions such as Annie Get Your Gun and Les Misérables. At the young age of seven, he secured a solo record deal with Columbia Records. However, the genesis of the Jonas Brothers as a band occurred in 2005 when the three brothers collaborated on a song titled "Please Be Mine." Upon hearing the track, Columbia president Steve Greenberg was so impressed that he decided the trio should record as a group. After briefly considering the name "Sons of Jonas," they ultimately settled on Jonas Brothers.
