John Toshack's career is full of historic achievements. As a player, he was part of Liverpool's first European Cup-winning side in 1977. As a manager, he achieved the remarkable feat of taking Swansea City from the Fourth Division to the First Division in just four seasons. He also won La Liga with Real Madrid in 1990, setting a record for the highest points tally at the time. Toshack is one of the few Welsh managers to have won major trophies in multiple countries, including Spain and Turkey. He was inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Cardiff City Hall of Fame in 2014.

AwardsAs a player, John Toshack won the Football League First Division twice (1972–73, 1975–76), the FA Cup (1973–74), the UEFA Cup twice (1972–73, 1975–76), the European Cup (1976–77), and the UEFA Super Cup (1977). As a manager, he won the Copa del Rey with Real Sociedad (1986–87), La Liga with Real Madrid (1989–90), the Turkish Cup with Besiktas (1997–98), and the Azerbaijan Cup with Khazar Lankaran (2012–13). He was also named Welsh Footballer of the Year in 1968 and 1970.
