Honours

Sir John Key's leadership during the global financial crisis and the Christchurch earthquake recovery earned him widespread respect. He is one of only a few New Zealand prime ministers to win three consecutive elections. His knighthood and honorary Order of Australia reflect his standing both at home and abroad.Beyond politics, his business acumen and diplomatic efforts, including meeting with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in 2026, have kept him in the public eye. He remains a respected elder statesman.

AwardsSir John Key has been recognised with the New Zealand Order of Merit, appointed a Principal Companion in 2017, later redesignated as Knight Grand Companion (GNZM). He also received an honorary Order of Australia (AC).
