Jason Calacanis

Jason McCabe Calacanis entered the world on November 28, 1970, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Now 55, he built a career spanning internet entrepreneurship, angel investing, and media production. His journey began during the height of the dot-com boom when he launched Rising Tide Studios in New York. That venture set the stage for his next major move: co-founding Weblogs, Inc. alongside Brian Alvey. The company rode the early wave of blogging popularity before selling to AOL in 2005, marking one of the first significant exits in the blogosphere history. Calacanis shifted gears to become a prominent angel investor, backing numerous technology startups that would later define Silicon Valley. He often shares his insights through audio platforms, hosting the This Week in Startups podcast where he interviews founders about their journeys. His influence expanded further when he joined forces with David Sacks, Chamath Palihapitiya, and David Friedberg as a co-host on All-In. The show covers business news, politics, and tech trends with a candid style that attracts millions of listeners weekly. These projects cemented his reputation as a key voice connecting investors with emerging companies while dissecting market dynamics for a broad audience.[edit]
