Jane Campion

Jane Campion holds an extraordinary place in film history. She is the first woman to win the Palme d'Or, a feat she achieved with The Piano in 1993. Thirty years later, she became the third woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director, for The Power of the Dog. She is also the only woman to be nominated for Best Director more than once.Her two Oscars, two BAFTAs, and two Golden Globes place her among the most honored directors working today. Beyond the major awards, she has received critical acclaim from New York and Los Angeles film critics, and her short film Peel won the Palme d'Or for Best Short Film at Cannes in 1986. In 2016, she was made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to film.
