Greer's career achievements are defined by his role in shaping U.S. trade policy during a transformative period. As chief of staff to USTR Lighthizer, he was instrumental in the renegotiation of NAFTA into the USMCA, the initiation of Section 301 tariffs on China, and the negotiation of the Phase One trade deal. His confirmation as U.S. Trade Representative in 2025 marked the return of a key architect of Trump-era trade policy to government. He also holds the distinction of being the first Mormon to serve in a Cabinet-level position since 2009.
