Hager's amateur wrestling career at the University of Oklahoma was historic: he set the school's single-season record for most pins at heavyweight with 30 in 2006, earning All-American honors. In professional wrestling, he is a two-time world champion (ECW and World Heavyweight) and held the United States Championship. He also became the final Lucha Underground Champion. His undefeated MMA record of 3-0-1 is a rare feat for a crossover athlete.
