Records

Opetaia is one of only a handful of Australian boxers to hold a major world title in the 21st century. He is the first Australian cruiserweight to win the Ring magazine belt. His victory over Mairis Briedis was widely considered the best performance by an Australian fighter in 2022. He has been ranked No. 1 in the cruiserweight division by The Ring, BoxRec, and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board since 2022.

AwardsOpetaia has won the IBF cruiserweight world title twice and the Ring magazine cruiserweight title. He was named Boxing Writers Association of Australia Fighter of the Year in 2023.
