Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover, officially Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC, is a British multinational automotive company headquartered in Whitley, Coventry. Formed on January 18, 2008, as a holding company for Tata Motors' acquisition of Jaguar Cars and Land Rover from Ford Motor Company, JLR has since evolved into a powerhouse of luxury and off-road vehicles. The company's roots stretch back to 1922 with the Swallow Sidecar Company, founded by William Lyons and William Walmsley, which eventually became Jaguar. Land Rover's story began in 1948 when Maurice Wilks, inspired by American military Jeeps, built the first Land Rover prototype with his brother Spencer Wilks, then managing director of the Rover Company.

In 2023, JLR unveiled a transformative corporate identity, rebranding simply as JLR and introducing a House of Brands strategy. This approach organizes its portfolio into four individually celebrated brands: Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar. Each brand has its own leadership and market positioning, allowing JLR to target distinct luxury segments. Land Rover brands contribute the vast majority of JLR's revenue and vehicle sales, with the Range Rover line alone accounting for a significant share of profits.

JLR sells vehicles in over 170 markets worldwide, with production output reaching 428,854 vehicles in 2025. The company is in the midst of its Reimagine strategy, a £15 billion investment plan over five years to transform manufacturing facilities for electric, autonomous, AI, and digital technologies. All brands are slated to be electrified by 2030, with Jaguar undergoing a radical transition to an all-electric lineup starting in 2025.
