Jaecoo is a Chinese automotive brand launched in 2023 as a subsidiary of Chery International, the export division of state-owned Chery Automobile. The name combines the German word Jäger (hunter) with the English word cool, reflecting a rugged yet stylish identity. Jaecoo debuted at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show with its first model, the Jaecoo J7, a compact SUV. The brand operates alongside sister brand Omoda under Chery's global expansion strategy, targeting international markets exclusively. In Iran, it is marketed as Lucano due to local trademark issues.

Jaecoo focuses on the SUV segment, positioning itself as a value-oriented alternative to established Japanese and Korean competitors. Its lineup includes the J7 and the larger J8, both emphasizing premium interiors, advanced driver-assistance systems, and off-road capability. The J7 features a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 145 kW and 290 Nm of torque, while the J8 offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 187 kW and 385 Nm, with a plug-in hybrid variant in some markets. Pricing typically undercuts rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V by 20-30%.

As of mid-2025, Jaecoo has entered over 15 markets including Russia, South Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with cumulative global sales surpassing 100,000 units. The brand plans to launch in Europe and Latin America by 2026. A third model, the sub-compact Jaecoo J5, is scheduled for late 2025.
