Jack Reacher

One morning in Pittsburgh, five people are shot dead by a sniper in a seemingly random attack. The police quickly arrest James Barr, a former Army sniper, whose fingerprints are found on a shell casing. But when Barr is beaten into a coma, he leaves a note: "Get Jack Reacher!"

Jack Reacher is a former Military Police major who lives off the grid, traveling with nothing but a toothbrush. He arrives expecting to help the prosecution, but defense attorney Helen Rodin convinces him the evidence is too perfect. As Reacher investigates, he uncovers a conspiracy involving a ruthless crime boss known as The Zec, played by legendary director Werner Herzog.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, this 2012 thriller is a lean, old-school action film that prioritizes practical stunts and character over spectacle. Her father, District Attorney Alex Rodin, is running for re-election on a platform of swift justice and pressures the police to close the case quickly.

Reacher's investigation reveals discrepancies. The evidence seems too perfect, and a sniper of Barr's caliber would not have left such an obvious calling card. Reacher and Helen dig deeper, encountering a network of corruption involving a local construction company and a mysterious figure known as The Zec, who commands a crew of violent thugs. The Zec runs a human trafficking and forced labor operation using the construction sites as a front.

As Reacher gets closer to the truth, he and Helen are targeted. A tense confrontation at a gun range, a dramatic car chase through Pittsburgh, and a brutal fistfight in a secluded area follow. The bodies pile up, and the conspiracy widens, forcing Reacher to operate outside the law to protect Helen and uncover the truth.[edit]
