About
IVE debuted on December 1, 2021 under Starship Entertainment with the single album Eleven. The group consists of six members: Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. Yujin and Wonyoung were previously members of IZ*ONE, a project group formed through Mnet's survival show Produce 48, which disbanded in April 2021. Their established fanbase gave IVE a strong start.
The group's name, IVE, is short for "I HAVE," symbolizing that they already possess everything needed to be a complete group. Their debut single "Eleven" became a commercial success, peaking at number 2 on the Circle Digital Chart and entering the Billboard Global 200. In 2022, IVE released "Love Dive" and "After Like," both of which reached number 1 on the Circle Digital Chart. "Love Dive" won Song of the Year at both the Mnet Asian Music Awards and the Melon Music Awards, solidifying IVE's status as a leading fourth-generation group.
In 2023, IVE released their first studio album I've IVE, preceded by the single "Kitsch" and led by "I Am." Both tracks topped the Circle Digital Chart. Later that year, they released the EP I've Mine with triple title tracks "Either Way," "Off The Record," and "Baddie." The group embarked on their first world tour, "Show What I Have," spanning Asia, North America, and Europe. IVE continues to be active, releasing new music and performing internationally.
Formation Story
IVE was formed by Starship Entertainment, a South Korean agency known for managing SISTAR, Monsta X, and Cosmic Girls. The group's formation was accelerated by the disbandment of IZ*ONE in April 2021. Starship decided to debut a new girl group featuring two former IZ*ONE members, Yujin and Wonyoung, capitalizing on their popularity.
The remaining members were recruited through Starship's trainee system. Gaeul trained for several years, developing her dance and rap skills. Rei, a Japanese trainee, joined Starship after passing an audition. Liz trained as a vocalist, and Leeseo, the youngest, debuted at age 14 after a relatively short training period. The group was finalized in late 2021 and debuted on December 1 with the single album Eleven.

Musical Style
IVE's music is rooted in K-pop with strong dance-pop, EDM, and synth-pop influences. Their debut single "Eleven" featured a minimalist, rhythmic structure with Middle Eastern-tinged synth lines. "Love Dive" adopted a darker, more mature pop sound with heavy bass, while "After Like" incorporated disco elements by interpolating Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive."
Their first studio album I've IVE expanded their range to include anthemic pop, R&B, and ballads. Later releases like "Baddie" introduced trap-influenced pop and edgier synth textures. IVE's songs are known for catchy hooks, concise structures, and confident lyrics often about self-assurance and independence. Their production emphasizes polished, high-fashion aesthetics that align with their "complete idol" concept.
