It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa

October 19, 1993 marked the release of a project designed to burn bridges. Eazy-E dropped It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa through Ruthless Records just three months after Dr. Dre departed N.W.A to launch Death Row Records. The EP served as a direct musical retaliation against Dre's debut solo album The Chronic, which had spent its runtime insulting Eazy and the legacy of their former group.

The title itself functions as a coded threat where "187" represents the California penal code for murder and "um" stands for "you." This translates the message into plain English: "It's On You, Dr. Dre, You're a Killer." Eazy-E assembled a raw, aggressive sound that prioritized confrontation over the polished G-funk production Dre had popularized. The project stands as the second and final release during Eazy-E's lifetime before his death from AIDS-related complications in March 1995. [edit]
