Inception

Christopher Nolan's Inception is a science fiction heist film that bends the rules of reality and dreams. Released in 2010, the movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb, a professional thief who steals corporate secrets by entering people's dreams. When a wealthy businessman offers Cobb a chance to erase his criminal record and return home to his children, Cobb must attempt the impossible: inception, or planting an idea in someone's mind without them knowing.

The film was shot in six countries, including Japan, France, and Morocco, with a budget of $160 million. Hans Zimmer composed the score, with the standout track "Time" becoming iconic. Dom Cobb is a skilled extractor, a thief who infiltrates the subconscious of his targets while they dream. Haunted by the memory of his wife Mal, Cobb is unable to return to the United States to see his children. He is approached by Saito, a powerful businessman, who offers Cobb a deal: if Cobb can successfully perform inception on Saito's competitor, Robert Fischer, Saito will use his influence to clear Cobb's name.

Cobb assembles a team for the mission. Ariadne, a brilliant architecture student, designs the dream landscapes. Eames, a forger, can impersonate others within dreams. Yusuf, a chemist, creates a sedative that allows them to share a dream state. Arthur is Cobb's longtime partner and point man. The target is Robert Fischer, the heir to a vast energy conglomerate. The team plans to plant the idea that Fischer should break up his father's company.

To achieve inception, they must navigate three layers of dreams within dreams, each with its own time dilation and dangers. Fischer's subconscious is protected by trained projections that attack the intruders. As they descend deeper, Cobb's own subconscious manifests as Mal, who sabotages the mission and threatens to trap them in limbo, a deep dream state from which it is nearly impossible to wake.

The team must work together to overcome Fischer's defenses, Cobb's inner demons, and the ticking clock of the sedative. The mission becomes a race against time as each layer of the dream moves faster than the last, and the consequences of failure are dire.[edit]
