Ichi the Witch

Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazaki launched Ichi the Witch in September 2024, bringing a fresh supernatural twist to Weekly Shōnen Jump. This manga follows Ichi, a young man who lives as a reclusive hunter in the mountains until he discovers he possesses dangerous magical abilities despite being male in a world where only women can become witches.

The narrative focuses on his struggle to understand and control these volatile powers while navigating a landscape filled with hidden threats and political intrigue among witches. Unlike traditional shōnen protagonists driven by a desire to save the world, Ichi is motivated primarily by survival and protecting his quiet life. The story blends survival elements with intense battles, exploring themes of identity, the burden of power, and the subversion of gender roles within a fantasy setting. [edit]
