(I Just) Died in Your Arms

Released in 1986, Cutting Crew's debut album arrived with a polished sound that blended pop rock and new wave elements. The record features ten tracks recorded at London's Town House and Nomis Studios, with additional work done at AIR Studios in Montserrat. Producers Terry Brown, John Jansen, and Steve Lillywhite guided the sessions to create an arena-ready aesthetic defined by synthesizers and reverb.

The title track became an international hit, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in the spring of 1987 and spending two weeks at the top spot. While the single dominated airwaves, the full album reached number 16 on the UK Albums Chart and number 52 on the US Billboard 200. Three other singles emerged from the project: "I've Been in Love Before" peaked at number 24 in the US, "One for the Mockingbird" reached number 38, and "Any Colour" failed to chart in either major market.

Critical reception at the time varied, with Billboard calling it a potent set of songs while AllMusic later described it as corporate rock. The band earned gold certifications in the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada shortly after release.
