    Overview

Hitman: Blood Money puts you in the polished shoes of Agent 47, a cloned assassin navigating a world of high-stakes contracts and corporate betrayal. Released in May 2006 by IO Interactive and Eidos Interactive, this fourth entry in the Hitman series refines the stealth-action formula with open-ended levels that reward creativity. Each mission feels like a deadly puzzle: you can poison a target's drink, rig a chandelier to fall, or simply slip a knife between their ribs, all while blending into crowds or hiding in plain sight. The game's darker tone and improved AI make every kill feel calculated, not chaotic.

Blood Money arrived on Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 to strong reviews. Critics praised its tight gameplay, haunting soundtrack, and a narrative that weaves 47's current fight against the Franchise, a rival agency, with flashbacks to past hits. A framing device shows an FBI agent recounting 47's career to a journalist, adding a layer of mystery. The game sold over 2.1 million copies and later gained a cult following, often cited as one of the best stealth games ever. Enhanced ports hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 as part of the Hitman HD Trilogy, and 4K remasters arrived on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019 through the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection.

    Gameplay

Blood Money gives you a sandbox of assassination tools and lets you choose how to use them. The Glacier engine powers levels that are dense with possibilities: you can poison a target's gumbo at Mardi Gras, drop a chandelier during a theater performance, or sabotage a Ferris wheel. A notoriety meter tracks your behavior across missions, rising when you leave witnesses or cause chaos, and falling when you pay bribes between levels. High notoriety makes NPCs recognize you, forcing you to adapt. Each mission ends with a newspaper article that reflects your choices, from the weapon used to the number of bystanders killed. Weapon customization returns, letting you add suppressors, scopes, and different ammo types to your arsenal. The game also introduces an instinct-like ability in later ports, but the original version relies purely on observation and timing.

    Story

The story opens at an abandoned amusement park, where a Ferris wheel collapse killed several people. The owner, Joseph Clarence, walks free, and a grieving father hires 47 for revenge. That contract sets off a chain of hits across America: a Vegas casino heist, a Mardi Gras parade, a Mississippi riverboat. But a rival agency called the Franchise is hunting ICA agents, systematically picking them off. Diana Burnwood shuts down the ICA and sends 47 to eliminate the Franchise operatives. The framing device shows a journalist interviewing an ex-FBI director about 47's career, building toward the climax: 47 infiltrates the White House to kill a corrupt Vice President. The ending leaves 47's fate ambiguous, with a post-credits scene suggesting he survived.
