Hit Me Hard and Soft

Hit Me Hard and Soft, Billie Eilish's third studio album, arrived on May 17, 2024, via Darkroom and Interscope Records. Co-written and co-produced with her brother Finneas O'Connell, the record blends electro, gothic rock, and avant-pop, shifting between whisper-quiet intimacy and explosive, distorted choruses. Themes of desire, insecurity, and self-destruction run through the ten tracks, with Eilish's vocals moving from fragile to ferocious. The album earned universal praise for its inventive production and raw lyricism, topping charts in over 20 countries, including the UK, Canada, and Australia. In the US, it debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, with all ten songs charting in the Hot 100's top 40.

The lead single "Lunch" dropped the same day, while "Birds of a Feather" became a global smash, peaking at number two on the Hot 100. Eilish supported the album with her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, running from September 2024 to November 2025. A concert film from the Manchester shows, directed by Eilish and James Cameron, hit theaters in May 2026 in 3D, and later streamed free on Paramount+ starting August 6, 2026. At the 67th Grammy Awards, the album racked up seven nominations, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. The following year, "Wildflower" took home Song of the Year, giving Eilish and Finneas a record-breaking seventh win in that category and tying them with Adele, Bruno Mars, and Paul Simon for the most General Field wins.
