Highway Prayers

Billy Strings entered the studio with producer Jon Brion to record his fourth studio album, Highway Prayers. Released on September 27, 2024, via Reprise Records, this major-label debut blends traditional bluegrass with experimental textures recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville. The project features thirteen tracks that range from original compositions to reimagined traditional pieces, creating a sonic landscape described as a full-throttle road trip.

Critics praised the production for adding emotional depth without sacrificing the artist's acoustic foundation. Pitchfork highlighted the expansion of Strings' musical palette, while fan communities noted the clarity of the mixing which preserved a live performance feel. The album topped the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and the Bluegrass Albums chart, reaching number 22 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

The record secured its place in genre history by winning Best Bluegrass Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2026. This victory marked Strings' third Grammy win in six years. Following the release, he supported the project with extensive touring and television appearances, including performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert featuring guest fiddler Jason Carter.
