Seo Jung-hoo lives two lives. By night, he is Healer, an anonymous night courier who takes on any job for the right price, moving through Seoul's rooftops and back alleys with a scarf and a hacker's skill set. By day, he stumbles through life as Bong Soo, a clumsy intern at a tiny tabloid called Someday News. The year is 2014, and Jung-hoo's carefully controlled world begins to crack when his latest assignment brings him face to face with Chae Young-shin, a reporter who refuses to let the truth stay buried. She is fierce, broke, and determined to make a name for herself.

Across town, star journalist Kim Moon-ho works at a major broadcasting network, his reputation spotless and his motives opaque. He has been waiting decades for this moment. When he hires Healer to protect Young-shin, the three are pulled into a conspiracy that reaches back to 1992, when five friends ran a pirate radio station and one of them died under mysterious circumstances. The survivors have built empires on that silence. The dead man's son is Seo Jung-hoo.

Directed by Lee Jung-sub and written by Song Ji-na, Healer aired on KBS2 from December 2014 to February 2015, running 20 episodes. It was pre-produced, allowing for a polished visual style and fight choreography that Ji Chang-wook largely performed himself. Seo Jung-hoo was raised in isolation by a former hacker named Ki Young-jae. Trained in combat, lock-picking, and digital infiltration, he grew up believing that people are dangerous and trust is a liability. He works as a night courier, taking high-risk jobs from a handler who knows his real name but never his face. His only companion is a cat named Momo. Then a job arrives that changes everything: protect a reporter named Chae Young-shin.

Young-shin works for Someday News, a struggling online tabloid run by the eccentric Jo Min-ja. She is stubborn, resourceful, and haunted by the disappearance of her own father, a journalist who vanished in the 1990s while investigating a powerful figure. To get close to her, Jung-hoo adopts the persona of Bong Soo, a bumbling intern from the countryside. The disguise is meant to be temporary, but Young-shin's warmth and determination begin to erode his walls.

Kim Moon-ho is the star anchor at JBS, the country's largest broadcaster. He is charismatic, respected, and secretly funding Someday News as a front for his own investigation. Moon-ho was one of the five friends from 1992, and he has spent twenty years trying to uncover the truth about what happened to their group. He knows that the key lies with the son of the man who died, and he has been watching Jung-hoo from the shadows.

The conspiracy involves the Elders, a secret society of powerful men who control politics, media, and business. In 1992, the five friends, Moon-ho, Moon-shik, Myung-hee, Joon-seok, and Gil-han, ran a pirate radio station that exposed corruption. When Joon-seok was killed, the others were scattered. Moon-shik, Moon-ho's older brother, became a ruthless prosecutor and the Elders' enforcer. Myung-hee became a news anchor who buried the truth. Gil-han became a homeless alcoholic. The fifth friend, Joon-seok, was Jung-hoo's father.

As Jung-hoo and Young-shin dig into a present-day case involving a factory worker's death, they find threads leading back to the Elders. Moon-ho guides them from a distance, revealing just enough to keep them moving forward. The investigation forces Jung-hoo to confront his father's legacy and his own identity. Young-shin, meanwhile, discovers that her father's disappearance is connected to the same network. The three form an unlikely family, each filling a gap the others have carried for years.

The first half of the season balances lighthearted moments, Jung-hoo's awkward attempts at being Bong Soo, the banter at the news office, with tense action sequences. As the conspiracy closes in, the tone shifts. Alliances are tested. The line between hero and villain blurs. By episode 20, every character must choose a side, and the cost of the truth becomes painfully clear.[edit]
