Miyazaki's achievements are extraordinary by any measure. He is one of only three directors to have won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature, and his 2014 Honorary Oscar recognized his lifelong impact on cinema. His film Spirited Away remains the only hand-drawn animated film to win the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. In Japan, Princess Mononoke broke ground as the first animated film to win the Japan Academy Prize for Picture of the Year.
