Harry Reid's legacy is marked by his role in passing some of the most consequential legislation of the 21st century. As Senate Majority Leader, he was instrumental in enacting the Affordable Care Act, which expanded health coverage to millions of Americans. He also helped pass the Dodd-Frank Act, the most sweeping financial reform since the Great Depression. Reid's decision to invoke the nuclear option in 2013 fundamentally changed the Senate's confirmation process for presidential nominees. His honors include the Lasker-Bloomberg Public Service Award and the renaming of Las Vegas's major airport in his name.
