Hannah Hampton grew up in Birmingham where her parents actively supported her early interest in sports. She began her formal training with local clubs before progressing through the youth academies of Stoke City and Birmingham City. A pivotal chapter in her development occurred when she moved to Spain at a young age to join the Villarreal CF youth system. This five-year period allowed her to immerse herself in a different football culture, learning Spanish and refining her technical skills under varied tactical systems.

Upon returning to England, Hampton joined Aston Villa where she gained significant first-team experience in the FA WSL. Her time in Spain provided a unique foundation that distinguished her from many peers, giving her a broader tactical understanding before she made her senior debut. The combination of her English upbringing and Spanish training created a versatile goalkeeper ready for the demands of elite competition. [edit]

Hampton's breakthrough into the international spotlight came in March 2020 when she was called into the England senior squad for the SheBelieves Cup trip to the USA. Following her successful tenure at Aston Villa, she transferred to Chelsea FC in the summer of 2023, immediately securing a starting position in the squad. Her impact at Chelsea has been immediate and substantial, helping the club secure two Women's Super League titles in 2024 and 2025, along with the Women's FA Cup in 2025.

In July 2026, she signed a new two-year contract extension with Chelsea, committing her future to the club until 2028. [edit]
