Halos & Horns

Dolly Parton returned to her bluegrass roots on Halos & Horns, the thirty-ninth solo studio album she released on July 9, 2002. Distributed through Sugar Hill Records and Blue Eye Records, this project marked the final chapter of her acclaimed folk trilogy. The record features fifteen tracks that blend traditional instrumentation with Parton's signature songwriting, exploring themes of faith, heartbreak, and redemption. Critics recognized the effort immediately, as the album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album in 2003. Lead singles like "Dagger Through the Heart" and "I'm Gone" also secured nominations for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

To promote the work, Parton launched her first tour in a decade, playing twenty-five sold-out shows across the United States and the United Kingdom. Decades later, songs such as "These Old Bones" and "Sugar Hill" found new life when adapted into episodes of the Netflix series Dolly Parton's Heartstrings.
