About
Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, is a video game developer based in Redmond, Washington, and operates under Xbox Game Studios. The studio was established in 2007, stepping in to manage the Halo franchise after Bungie, the original creator, separated from Microsoft. The name 343 Industries paid homage to 343 Guilty Spark, a character from the Halo universe. Under the leadership of Pierre Hintze, Halo Studios has been the steward of one of gaming's most influential science fiction series. The studio's first major task was to support Bungie on downloadable content for Halo: Reach, and then it took the reins with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, a remaster of the original game. In 2012, Halo 4 launched, kicking off the "Reclaimer Saga," a new storyline that continued with Halo 5: Guardians in 2015 and concluded with Halo Infinite in 2021. These games have been commercial successes, with Halo 4 alone generating over $220 million in its first 24 hours, and Halo Infinite becoming the fastest-selling entry in the series. The studio rebranded to Halo Studios in October 2024, signaling a new chapter for the franchise, with future projects in development using Epic's Unreal Engine. The Halo series has consistently received strong reviews, with Halo Infinite praised for its open-world design and narrative focus.
