    About

VVINK is a five-member Filipino girl group active under FlipMusic Records as of November 2025. The group consists of Angelika, Ayaka, Jean, Mariel, and Odri. They are known for pioneering "budots-pop," a fusion of hyperpop and the Filipino electronic dance genre budots. Their debut single "Tulala" peaked at number 87 on the Billboard Philippines Songs chart, and their follow-up "Tatlong Hiling" reached number 63. The group has accumulated over 2 million streams on Spotify across their releases and draws a growing fanbase called Sparkles. Their lightstick, the Wink Light, features a blinking LED eye design in pink and white. VVINK has performed at local venues in Quezon City and Bonifacio Global City, establishing themselves as a fresh act in the OPM scene.

    Formation Story

FlipMusic Records held open casting calls across Metro Manila and Luzon in October and November 2024, drawing over 1,200 applicants. From these, 15 trainees were selected for a three-month intensive program from December 2024 to February 2025, focusing on vocals, choreography, and the budots dance style. The final five members were announced on March 3, 2025, via FlipMusic's social media channels. Angelika, the oldest, had classical piano training and composed the interlude on the pre-debut album. Ayaka, half-Japanese, was scouted through an online audition and moved from Makati to Quezon City for training. Jean came from Cebu City with a background in street dance. Mariel, a Manila native, trained in vocal performance. Odri, the youngest, was a former child dancer on the TV show It's Showtime. The group released a five-track pre-debut album on May 16, 2025, before officially debuting on July 10 with the single "Tulala" at Club Hype in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

    Musical Style

VVINK's sound has evolved rapidly across their early releases. The pre-debut album featured a blend of bubblegum pop and acoustic ballads. "Tulala" (July 2025) introduced a mid-tempo pop-R&B sound with synth layers. "Tatlong Hiling" (September 2025) shifted toward upbeat dance-pop with tropical house elements. Their third single "Baduy" (November 14, 2025) marks a stylistic leap into hyperpop, incorporating heavy auto-tune, glitchy beats, and budots – a Filipino electronic dance genre characterized by repetitive basslines and fast tempos. This fusion is being marketed as "budots-pop," a new subgenre VVINK is pioneering in the OPM scene.

    Cultural Impact

VVINK's primary cultural impact is the popularization of budots-infused pop among younger OPM audiences. Their song "Baduy" is being cited as a breakthrough for the genre's mainstream crossover, introducing budots – a style rooted in Filipino DJ culture – to a wider pop audience. The group has not yet achieved significant fashion influence or international crossover, but their early work positions them as innovators in blending local dance music with global pop trends.

The official fandom name is Sparkles, announced at the debut showcase on July 10, 2025. The lightstick, called the Wink Light, was released on September 20, 2025; it is shaped like a stylized eye with a blinking LED feature, colored pink and white. The official fan color is Sparkle Pink (#FF69B4). Fan traditions include wearing sparkly accessories to shows and a synchronized blink during the chorus of "Tulala." On October 15, 2025, Sparkles organized a charity fundraiser for the Philippine Red Cross, raising PHP 45,000 (about $800 USD) in the group's name.

    Trivia

The group's name VVINK represents a "double wink" – two V's forming a wink emoji – symbolizing the members' playful concept. Ayaka is the only half-Japanese member. Odri was a former child dancer on It's Showtime. "Tulala" was originally written as a solo track by producer Nico Santos before being reworked for the group. The choreography for "Baduy" incorporates moves from the budots dance. Angelika composed the piano interlude in "Parang Kailan Lang" from the pre-debut album. The lightstick design was crowd-sourced via a fan poll on Instagram.
