Gretchen

Gretchen's standing rests on commercial reach rather than trophy cabinets. An estimated 15 million records sold across more than a dozen albums places her among the more successful Brazilian recording artists of her generation, and her early 1980s disco hits remain the reference point for that era in Brazil. The Rainha do Bumbum nickname has survived four decades of career changes, which is its own kind of distinction. She also holds a less common record of range: few Brazilian entertainers have worked at scale in disco recording, mainstream film, adult film and reality television, and fewer still have done so without retreating from any of those phases.
