Great Expectation

Sienna Spiro stood on the stage at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27 to perform Great Expectation, a moment that drew a standing ovation and marked her arrival as a major new voice in pop music. The song had already topped the UK Singles Chart for three consecutive weeks by late September, proving its reach extended far beyond American borders before she even stepped onto that red carpet.

The track emerged from a specific period of heartbreak while Spiro lived in New York, where she navigated a relationship defined by repeated promises of visits that never came true. She crafted the lyrics with producer Omer Fedi and songwriter Michael Pollack, blending that raw personal history with polished hooks that fit seamlessly into radio formats. Critics noted how the song translated private pain into a universal anthem without losing its emotional weight.

Released simultaneously with her debut album Visitor on July 3, 2026, the single served as the fourth overall release but functioned as the second US push following the album's lead hit. It arrived on US pop radio stations on July 21, 2026, driving significant streaming numbers and cementing its status as a defining track of her early career. The official music video directed for the song has since accumulated over 12 million views on YouTube. [edit]
