Gorō Miyazaki

Miyazaki's most celebrated work is From Up on Poppy Hill, which won both the Japan Academy Prize and the Mainichi Film Award for Best Animation in 2012. That film also earned an Annie Award nomination, a rare international nod for a Japanese director early in his career. With Earwig and the Witch, he took a bold risk by pioneering Studio Ghibli's first full 3D CG feature, which won the Asian Film Award for Best Animated Feature. His television work Ronja, the Robber's Daughter earned a Tokyo Anime Award. While his filmography is small, each project has pushed the studio in new directions.
