Good Times

Elvis Presley's twentieth studio album, Good Times, hit stores on March 20, 1974, via RCA Records. The sessions at Stax Studios in Memphis mixed leftovers from July 1973 with fresh takes from December, yielding ten tracks that blend rock and roll, country, and soft rock. The title comes from the song "Talk About the Good Times," and the album was released the same day Presley recorded Recorded Live on Stage in Memphis.

The material leans heavily on covers of contemporary hits, including "Spanish Eyes" and "She Wears My Ring," giving the record a familiar, easy-listening feel. Two singles emerged: "I've Got a Thing About You Baby" reached number 4 on the Country charts and number 39 on the Pop chart, while "My Boy" hit number 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Despite these successes, Good Times charted low upon release and became Presley's first album to hit the cut-out bins. It did top Cashbox's Country Albums chart and cracked the UK Top 50. Original copies with a sticker listing the singles are now rare collectibles.[edit]
