The Golden State Warriors, often called the "Dubs" for short, represent a storied franchise in the National Basketball Association. Originally founded in Philadelphia in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors, they captured the inaugural Basketball Association of America championship in 1947. The team relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1962, initially adopting the city's name before rebranding as the "Golden State" Warriors in 1971 to encompass a broader regional identity. The Golden State Warriors began as the Philadelphia Warriors in 1946, a charter member of the Basketball Association of America. Led by Joe Fulks, the league's first scoring star, they won the inaugural BAA title in 1947. After moving to the Bay Area in 1962, the franchise experienced sporadic success, including a 1975 championship behind Rick Barry, who swept the heavily favored Washington Bullets. The "We Believe" era in the late 2000s, coached by Don Nelson and sparked by Baron Davis, brought playoff excitement but no titles.

The modern dynasty started with the drafting of Stephen Curry in 2009 and Klay Thompson in 2011, with Draymond Green joining in 2012. Under Steve Kerr, who took over in 2014, the Warriors won four championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and set the NBA record with 73 wins in 2015-16.
