Ginger Baker's drumming earned him a place among the greatest percussionists in rock history. Rolling Stone ranked him No. 3 on its 2016 list of the 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time, and NME placed him at No. 2 in 2011. He was one of the first drummers to use two bass drums in rock, a technique he adopted from jazz drummer Louie Bellson. His solo on "Toad" is widely regarded as the first recorded drum solo in rock music, influencing generations of drummers. Baker's blending of jazz, blues, and African rhythms expanded the possibilities of rock drumming and helped create the genres of jazz fusion and world music.
