Released on April 11, 1969, the single "Get Back" arrived as a raw snapshot of The Beatles in their final days together. While often discussed alongside the Let It Be sessions, this track stands apart as a distinct release credited to "The Beatles with Billy Preston." The recording captures the group blending gritty rock energy with spontaneous moments that highlighted their chemistry before the band dissolved. Paul McCartney handled lead vocals and bass while John Lennon returned to prominent lead guitar work during these January 1969 sessions.

The song opened with approximately twenty seconds of casual banter between McCartney and Lennon regarding the lyrics before launching into the blues rock track. This intro was omitted from the version later included on the Let It Be album which instead begins directly with the music.
