Garbage has sold over 17 million records worldwide. Their debut album hit #1 in the UK and sold 4 million copies. Version 2.0 also went multi-platinum and earned a Grammy nomination. They are one of the few bands to have won MTV Video of the Year for a debut single. Their Bond theme remains a fan favorite. The band's consistent lineup over three decades is rare in rock.

AwardsGarbage won multiple MTV Video Music Awards for Stupid Girl in 1996, including Video of the Year. They earned BRIT Awards for Best International Newcomer (1997) and Best International Group (1999). The band also won NME Awards, Q Awards, and an Ivor Novello for International Achievement. Their MTV Europe Music Awards include Best New Act (1996) and Best Rock Act (1999).
