    Satisfactory

    "Build, automate, explore."

    Overview

Step into the boots of a pioneer, unceremoniously dropped onto an alien world by the enigmatic FICSIT Inc. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the ambitious task of building a sprawling, automated factory from the ground up. Starting with little more than a handful of basic tools and the planet's abundant natural resources, you'll need to set up complex production lines. The first major hurdle is constructing a space elevator, a vital conduit for shipping increasingly sophisticated components back to your corporate benefactors. Each successful export unlocks new technologies, propelling you into higher tiers of manufacturing and refining, enabling the creation of even more advanced parts for FICSIT's inscrutable, yet purportedly prudent, objectives.

Developed by Coffee Stain Studios, Satisfactory launched into early access on March 19, 2019, and has since captured the attention of millions. By January 2024, the game had sold over 5.5 million copies. The full release arrived on PC on September 10, 2024, with console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S following on November 4, 2025. Blending the methodical planning of a factory simulation with the exploration and resource gathering inherent in a first-person perspective, Satisfactory offers a unique experience. It's a game that rewards intricate design and efficient logistics, all while you navigate the beautiful, and sometimes hazardous, landscapes of an alien planet.

    Gameplay

At its core, Satisfactory is about laying down conveyor belts, pipes, and power lines across a vast alien landscape. You start with hand-mining ore, but soon you're assembling automated miners, smelters, and constructors into sprawling complexes. The game's real draw is optimization: figuring out how to balance input and output, manage byproducts, and scale production without bottlenecks. Vehicles like trucks and trains handle long-distance logistics, while jetpacks and jump pads make vertical exploration a breeze.

Combat against hostile fauna is simple, mostly a matter of shooting or avoiding. The open world is divided into distinct biomes, each with unique resources and threats. You can play solo or with up to three friends in online co-op, and the game supports cross-platform play between PC and consoles. On PlayStation 5, a PS Plus subscription is required for online multiplayer, and the game takes advantage of the PS5 Pro's enhanced performance.

    Story

The narrative is a light wrapper around the factory-building loop. You're a pioneer hired by FICSIT Inc., a megacorp whose name is a pun on "Fix It Inc." Your task: construct a space elevator and feed it with increasingly complex components. Each shipment unlocks new technology tiers, but the corporation's ultimate goal is never fully explained. The in-game AI provides occasional humorous commentary, and IGN noted that the premise is a "thin veil" for the real joy of building.
