Players could find it on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and Nintendo Switch, with older consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 also getting a final shot at the action before support ended. The game introduced UEFA club competitions for the first time, letting fans experience the Champions League and Europa League directly within the main menu. Hans Zimmer teamed up with rapper Vince Staples to create a fresh remix of the anthem, while Martin Tyler and Alan Smith returned to call the matches alongside new voices Derek Rae and Lee Dixon for European tournaments. The career mode story "The Journey: Champions" concluded Alex Hunter's trilogy, wrapping up his rise from amateur to professional star. Cover art saw some drama when Cristiano Ronaldo moved from Real Madrid to Juventus mid-cycle. A legal controversy later that year involving allegations against him forced Electronic Arts to remove him from promotional materials by early 2019, replacing him with Neymar, Kevin De Bruyne, and Paulo Dybala. The title also received a free update in June 2019 adding the Women's World Cup Final to its kickoff options.
