EA Sports FC 27, the fourth entry in the series, launches on 25 September 2026 across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and Amazon Luna. Developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania, this year's edition overhauls set-piece tactics with Dynamic Corner Kick Routines that let players design flexible attacking setups instead of choosing from static templates. The AI has been retooled: strikers and midfielders now make curved, intelligent runs that overlap and underlap automatically, addressing the straight-line movement that plagued earlier versions. Defensive controls shift toward individual player responsiveness, reducing reliance on AI assistance in competitive matches.

Career mode gets a transfer system overhaul and dynamic player overalls that evolve based on performance and training. Ultimate Team introduces new chemistry systems and seasonal live events. The Grounds mode returns, bringing back Alex Hunter from The Journey as a football mentor, alongside Ted Lasso and A.F.C. Richmond. However, The Grounds is exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2. Cross-play spans most platforms, and EA Play subscribers get a 10-hour trial starting 18 September. A free Lite version offers Kick-Off and select modes at launch.

Three editions are available: Standard at $69.99, Ultimate at $99.99, and Ultimate Edition Plus at $149.99, the latter including 10,000 FC points and seven days of early access. The $150 price tag sparked immediate backlash, with fans comparing it unfavorably to GTA VI's $99.99 Ultimate edition. The 2026 World Cup, meanwhile, served as an effective promotional vehicle, driving interest in both the sport and the game. Dynamic Corner Kick Routines let players drag and drop attackers into custom positions before the ball is kicked, replacing the old set-piece templates with freeform setup options. The attacking AI now draws curved runs that overlap and underlap, so wingers and strikers time their movements to break defensive lines rather than running in straight channels. On defense, Player-Oriented Controls give each defender independent responsiveness, meaning manual positioning and timing matter more than AI interceptions. The physics engine, running on Frostbite, shares a single x86/x64 pipeline for PS4 and PS5, but the simulation budget is capped to what a 2013-era PS4 GPU can handle, which limits the complexity of animations and AI decision-making on older hardware.

Skill moves have been expanded with new tricks, and two-phase corner kicks allow short passes followed by a second delivery. Offside avoidance has been improved for attacking runs, and pass-and-follow triangle play lets players trigger quick one-twos with more fluidity. Career mode adds dynamic overalls that shift based on real match performance and training drills, plus a revamped scouting network that uses deeper data analytics. Ultimate Team introduces new chemistry links and seasonal live events that unlock exclusive player items.
