G-Unit's debut album Beg for Mercy sold over 2.3 million copies in the United States, making it one of the best-selling debut albums by a hip-hop group. The group was the first to have their debut album debut at number one on the Billboard 200. They won five major awards in 2004 alone, including Rap Artist of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards. Their influence on 2000s hip-hop culture, particularly in fashion and the mixtape scene, remains significant. Rolling Stone ranked them #41 on its list of the 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Groups of All Time in 2015, and MTV ranked them #9 on its list of the Greatest Hip-Hop Groups of All Time in 2007.
