Future Nostalgia

Dua Lipa released her second studio album, Future Nostalgia, on March 27, 2020, through Warner Records. The project emerged from a period of isolation as the singer sought to create an escape from global anxiety by merging late 1990s and early 2000s dance music with modern production. She worked closely with Stuart Price and other collaborators to craft a sound that felt simultaneously vintage and forward-looking, focusing on themes of empowerment and romance.

The album arrived during a time when disco was experiencing a resurgence in mainstream culture. Tracks like Don't Start Now and Physical drove the record's momentum, blending funk basslines with crisp electronic beats. Critics noted the cohesive nature of the work, which avoided the disjointed feel common in pop compilations while maintaining high energy throughout its eleven tracks. [edit]
