Flowers

Flowers is the Rolling Stones' second US compilation, put together by London Records and released on June 26, 1967. It collects material from 1965 to 1967, including three previously unreleased tracks: 'Ride On, Baby,' 'Sittin' on a Fence,' and a cover of the Temptations' 'My Girl.' The album also gathers singles like 'Ruby Tuesday' and 'Let's Spend the Night Together,' alongside songs left off the American editions of Aftermath and Between the Buttons. It's a snapshot of a band in transition, moving from R&B-rooted rock into baroque pop and psychedelia.

The cover art, a colorful floral design, fits the Summer of Love vibe of 1967. The album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and went gold within two months. While the Stones didn't have a hand in assembling it, Flowers preserves some of their finest mid-60s moments. 'Ruby Tuesday' hit number one, and 'Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?' reached the Top 10. The compilation remains a favorite among collectors for its outtakes and the chance to hear the band experimenting with sitar, dulcimer, and distorted horns. [edit]
