Flower Boy

On July 21, 2017, Tyler, the Creator released his fifth studio album, Flower Boy (also known as Scum Fuck Flower Boy), through Columbia Records. The album marked a major evolution in his sound and public persona. Moving away from the aggressive shock rap of his early work, Tyler crafted a lush, introspective collection that blends alternative hip-hop, jazz rap, and neo soul. He produced the entire record himself, enlisting a diverse guest list that includes Frank Ocean, ASAP Rocky, Lil Wayne, Kali Uchis, Steve Lacy, Estelle, Jaden Smith, and Rex Orange County, along with Anna of the North. The 14 tracks explore themes of loneliness, sexuality, and self-discovery, delivered with newfound emotional honesty. Singles like "Who Dat Boy" / "911", "Boredom", "I Ain't Got Time!", and "See You Again" previewed the album's range. Critics praised its smooth production and genre fusion. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. Publications later ranked it among the best albums of 2017 and the decade.[edit]
