Florida Championship Wrestling

Florida Championship Wrestling, better known as FCW, was a professional wrestling promotion that operated from 2007 to 2012. It was founded on June 26, 2007, and was based on the legacy of Championship Wrestling from Florida, a National Wrestling Alliance member that ran from 1961 to 1987. FCW's primary purpose was to serve as WWE's official developmental territory, a role it took on in October 2007. During its five-year run, FCW became a proving ground for future WWE stars, with many of today's top performers cutting their teeth in its ring.

The promotion was not a flashy, high-budget production; its focus was on training and development. FCW ran regular shows at the FCW Arena in Tampa, Florida, where wrestlers honed their skills in front of live audiences. The roster was a mix of raw rookies and seasoned veterans who helped guide them. Notable names who passed through FCW include Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley), and Charlotte Flair, among many others. The promotion's storylines were often simple, but they served a crucial purpose: to teach wrestlers how to connect with a crowd and tell a story in the ring.

In August 2012, WWE folded FCW into its NXT brand, which took over as the developmental territory. FCW's championships and storylines were discontinued, and its assets were absorbed into NXT. The promotion's legacy, however, was preserved in a 2020 documentary on WWE Network titled A Future WWE: The FCW Story, which chronicled the rise of the wrestlers who came through the system.
