Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony was an American girl group that became one of the most commercially successful pop acts of the 2010s. The group was formed on the American version of The X Factor, where five solo contestants were assembled into a single act. They finished third in the competition but far outgrew the show that created them. Their debut single Miss Movin' On was released in July 2013, followed by the EP Better Together that October. Their first full-length album Reflection (2015) peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and produced hits like Bo$$ and Worth It. Worth It, featuring Kid Ink, reached number 12 on the Hot 100 and earned a 4x platinum certification.

The group's sophomore album 7/27 (2016) marked a stylistic shift toward urban pop. Its lead single Work from Home, featuring Ty Dolla $ign, became a global phenomenon, peaking at number four on the Hot 100 and spending seven weeks at number one on the Pop Songs chart. It was the first top-five Hot 100 single by a girl group in a decade. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. In December 2016, Camila Cabello left the group amid public tension. The remaining four members continued as a quartet and released their self-titled third album Fifth Harmony in August 2017, which also debuted at number four. The album featured darker, more electronic and trap-influenced sounds. The group announced an indefinite hiatus in March 2018, allowing members to pursue solo careers. Fifth Harmony came together on the second season of the U.S. version of The X Factor in 2012. Each of the five members auditioned individually: Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, and Camila Cabello. During the bootcamp stage, the judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears, and Demi Lovato decided to place them in a group. They initially performed under the name LYLAS (Love You Like a Sister) but changed it to Fifth Harmony after a fan poll. The group advanced through the competition, delivering polished performances of songs like Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding and Give Your Heart a Break by Demi Lovato. The official fandom name is Harmonizers. Fans are known for their active social media presence, organizing mass streaming campaigns and trending hashtags like #HarmonizerArmy. Although no official lightstick was released, fans often used purple and white colors at concerts. The Harmonizers were recognized by the group and won the iHeartRadio Music Award for Best Fan Army in 2016. The group's name was chosen from a fan poll on The X Factor. They were the highest-finishing group in U.S. X Factor history at the time. Dinah Jane is of Tongan descent, Normani is African-American, Ally Brooke is Mexican-American, Lauren Jauregui is Cuban-American, and Camila Cabello is Cuban-Mexican. Worth It was originally written for a male artist but given to Fifth Harmony. The group performed at the White House Easter Egg Roll in 2016 for President Barack Obama.
