Torres is one of the most decorated Spanish footballers in history. He is one of only a handful of players to have won the World Cup, European Championship, Champions League, and Europa League. His goal in the Euro 2008 final ended Spain's 44-year trophy drought and sparked an era of dominance. He remains Spain's third-highest all-time scorer with 38 goals. At Liverpool, he set the club record for fastest to 50 league goals, a mark that stood for years. His individual recognition includes a Ballon d'Or third-place finish and inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year twice. He is remembered as a clutch performer who delivered in the biggest matches.
