About
Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande opened a small fur and leather shop in Rome during 1925. Their five daughters, Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla, and Alda, took over the business decades later and transformed it from a local boutique into an international fashion house. The family brought Karl Lagerfeld on board in 1965 to help reshape the brand's aesthetic direction.
LVMH acquired a controlling stake in the company in 2001 while the Fendi family kept a significant minority share. Maria Grazia Chiuri became the first female creative director in 2019 and led the launch of the brand's first-ever couture collection in July 2026. Recent campaigns have featured Sarah Jessica Parker and Olivia Wilde to highlight new styling trends like layering multiple bags.
