FE!N

Travis Scott and Playboi Carti ignite the fifth track of Utopia with "FE!N," a high-octane trap anthem released on July 28, 2023. The song leans heavily into the rage subgenre, building its sound around distorted 808 basslines and frenetic synthesizer melodies that create an aggressive, adrenaline-fueled atmosphere. Its title serves as a stylized spelling of "fiend," reflecting the lyrics' focus on addiction, substance abuse, and an insatiable craving for fame and luxury.

A defining moment in the track arrives when Playboi Carti shifts away from his signature "baby voice" delivery. He adopts a deeper, more aggressive cadence that surprised many listeners, leading some fans to mistake his intense verses for the primary chorus. The hook features a repetitive, high-pitched vocalization of the word "fiend" that became instantly recognizable, spawning widespread memes across social media platforms shortly after the album dropped.

The single achieved significant commercial success, charting within the top ten in several countries globally and reaching the upper echelons of the Billboard Hot 100. Critics generally praised the energy and production quality, though opinions on Carti's stylistic departure remained divided. The official music video directed by Gabriel Moses complements this chaotic energy with surreal imagery featuring fire and abstract visuals, amassing hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. [edit]
