Federico Higuaín

Federico Higuaín entered the world on October 25, 1984, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This former professional footballer carved out a distinct path as a forward and attacking midfielder before retiring from the sport. His early career unfolded across the Argentine Primera División between 2003 and 2012, where he logged 157 games and netted 35 goals for clubs including River Plate, Nueva Chicago, Independiente, Godoy Cruz, and Colón. He also spent time overseas with Beşiktaş J.K. in Turkey and Club América in Mexico during the 2007–08 season. The trajectory of his career shifted dramatically in 2012 when he signed with the Columbus Crew for a club-record fee of US$650,000. That single move defined his legacy in Major League Soccer. Higuaín won the MLS Newcomer of the Year Award immediately upon arrival. He went on to make over 200 appearances for the team while scoring more than 50 goals. His impact extended beyond just finding the back of the net. He remains the all-time leader in regular season assists with 63, penalty-kick goals with 20, and game-winning assists with 20.
