FC Rottach-Egern

FC Rottach-Egern is an amateur football club based in the Bavarian town of Rottach-Egern, Germany. Founded on February 20, 1947, the club has its roots in a football department established within TSV Rottach-Egern in June 1946. While the club operates at the amateur level, it has garnered international attention through its tradition of hosting friendly matches against prominent clubs, most notably FC Bayern Munich.

These annual summer fixtures are often part of Bayern Munich's training camp in the Tegernsee region. FC Rottach-Egern benefits from the exposure and revenue generated by these high-profile games. The club's home ground is Stadion am Birkenmoos, which has a spectator capacity of 2,500. The club's origins trace back to June 1946 with the establishment of a football department within TSV Rottach-Egern, spearheaded by Albert "Didi" Distler and other local football enthusiasts. FC Rottach-Egern was officially founded on February 20, 1947. The club has achieved promotion to the Bezirksliga four times in its history. These promotions occurred in 1969, and during the periods of 1978–1981, 1995–2000, and most recently in 2002.

In recent seasons, the club has consistently finished in mid-table in its league. For the 2022/23 season, FC Rottach-Egern secured 6th place in the Kreisklasse Zugspitze Group 2. The team repeated this performance in the 2023/24 season, again finishing in 6th position. [edit]
