FC Hradec Králové

Founded in 1905, FC Hradec Králové is a Czech football club based in the city of Hradec Králové. The club's most celebrated moment came in the 1959–60 season when they won the Czechoslovak First League championship, a triumph that earned them a place in the 1960–61 European Cup. They advanced to the quarter-finals before being eliminated by eventual runners-up Barcelona. In 1995, they added a Czech Cup victory to their honours, which led to a Cup Winners' Cup campaign that ended in the round of 16 against Dynamo Moscow.

The club has experienced considerable fluctuation in league standing over the decades, with multiple promotions and relegations. After a period in the second tier, they secured promotion back to the Czech First League for the 2021 season and have remained in the top flight since. Their qualification for the UEFA Europa League 2026/27 marks a significant recent achievement, with the club participating in the qualifying rounds.

Home matches are played at the modern Malšovická aréna, which opened in 2023 with a capacity of 9,300. The venue meets UEFA Category 4 standards and is considered one of the most advanced football stadiums in the country. FC Hradec Králové was established in 1905, and over its long existence the club has undergone several name changes, reflecting the political and social shifts of the region. From TJ Spartak ZVU Hradec in 1976, through RH Spartak ZVU Hradec Králové in 1989, SKP Spartak Hradec Králové in 1990, SKP Fomei Hradec Králové in 1992, and SK Hradec Králové in 1994, the club finally adopted its current name, FC Hradec Králové, in 2005.

The pinnacle of the club's history came in the 1959–60 season when they won the Czechoslovak First League title, a feat that remains their only top-flight championship. That success catapulted them into the 1960–61 European Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals, losing to Barcelona, who would go on to be runners-up. In 1995, the club claimed the Czech Cup, defeating Viktoria Žižkov in the final. That victory granted them entry to the Cup Winners' Cup, where they advanced to the round of 16 before falling to Dynamo Moscow.

In the domestic league, the club has experienced a pattern of promotions and relegations. After relegation in 2012–13, they returned for the 2013–14 season but were relegated again in 2014–15. They bounced back for 2016–17, only to be relegated once more that season. They secured promotion again for the 2021 season and have maintained their top-flight status since.
